My Only Escape

My Only Escape (MOE) is a quickly rising pop star from New Caney, Texas with an impressive following. Since releasing his first single “Falling For You,” which received some radio play, he made an appearance on The Voice and has toured nationally.

No stranger to the stage, MOE has opened for Panic! at The Disco and has shared the stage with many other big names, including Disney’s IM5.

He has appeared on TV stations around the country where he has shared his story about his music career, as well as his passion to help tackle bullying. MOE has spent the past year traveling the country on tours, including the nationally recognized Allstar Nation Tour, where he has delivered his message of perseverance and resistance to bullies to tens of thousands. Many fans have credited him with saving their lives through inspiration and incredible music.

Recently, the Houston Chronicle released a featured article about My Only Escape, discussing his personal dealings with bullying, how he overcame them and how he is now using his music to inspire students around the country to stand up to bullies.

From the Houston Chronicle:

“[MOE] was a baseball pitcher at New Caney High School who felt bullied by some teammates who ridiculed his interest in music. They were tough guys, jocks,” he said. “I was one of them, but I was different. They called me names.”

They called me pointless and said ‘why are you alive?’ I felt like everybody was against me.

My dad trained me so I could go to college and play baseball, then one day, I snapped. I quit. I threw away everything we’d worked for,” said Mendoza.

Homeschooled since his sophomore year, Mendoza turned to music, writing songs and playing in bands with other teenagers at “little festivals, barbecue cook-offs and carnivals.” Mendoza, who’s now 21 and a rising star after appearing on NBC’s “The Voice,” is determined to recount his suicidal experience from about five years ago to fans in the upcoming Allstar Nation Tour.”

His new single, “Sunrise,” was released this summer to a large audience of followers and turned many heads and ears.
